Eh...It has a few good episodes. I enjoyed Year of Hell.

That's not nearly as unpopular as liking enterprise.

It was probably the most inconsistent of all the Trek series. When it was good, it was great, when it was bad, it was fucking terrible.

Me too.

Even more unpopular opinion: I liked it better than DS9.

I enjoy Voyager because it played up the campier aspects of Star Trek, and let’s be honest here, Star Trek is pretty ridiculous. There are some terrible episodes, but I kinda enjoy how often there’s some kind of melodramatic music as the bridge shakes and sparks fly. They really went to town with the exploding bridge consoles on that show.

I haven’t watched Enterprise. Not because I have anything against it. I just had other nerdy things to do when it aired.

I rewatched it a while ago. There were some good episodes but a lot of terrible ones as well. I was particularly bothered by the early attempt to have recurring villains, which really makes no sense when you are talking about an extremely fast ship flying a one way route. Also think they underplayed tensions between the Federation and Maquis crew. Aside from the one mutiny episode, you basically had one happy Starfleet family (admittedly, the Maquis were mostly an anti-Cardassian organization, and some members were ex-Starfleet, but still seems like there should have been more animosity and mistrust).

Also I’d like to see a running tally of how many shuttles they lost, because it really seemed like far more than Voyager’s little hangar could possibly hold.

It definitely had its moments, but eventually it just turned into the 7 of 9 soap opera.

Then, it had The Doctor and 7 of 9, who were both on a Data-esque (and Odo-esq) search for their humanity, but I think those character explorations were accomplished a LOT more successfully with Data and Odo. The Doctor wasn’t so bad, but Seven’s search for her self kinda fell flat to me.

This is true. But the static location of DS9 made it easier to create a serial drama versus episodic “monster of the week” tv, which meant DS9 had some of the best character development of the entire franchise.* Like, just look at how Garak and Quark evolved over the series. Garak, especially, who was a bit of a throwaway character, became something so, so much more. And Quark was way more than a greedy Ferengi barkeep.

*Despite that, I think TNG is still my very fave because it's what I grew up with.

It’s the first couple seasons. Once the Dominion starts the war it picks up. I initially stopped watching after the first couple episodes because it seemed boring, especially since this was my first trek series. After a couple months, I tried again, but this time from Season 5 and couldn’t stop watching it until I finished Season 6 & 7. Then I went back to the earlier seasons.

With the sheer number of exploding bridge consoles, I always wondered why the bridge crew were never issued anti-flash gear, you know like with actual navies.

It did have one of the best episodes in Star Trek, which was “In the Pale Moonlight”. Though TNG was still the better overall series.

I thought Enterprise was the best one since TOS. :/

TNG was incredibly dry save a few episodes (THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!), DS9 was trying too hard to be Babylon 5 (B5 may have been lower budget, but the writing was superior and the acting had far more heart), Voyager was...an interesting premise but silly execution.

Voyager would have been way better had it come out after the reimagined Battlestar Galactica .

I liked it. I really don’t understand the hate for it. It brought some action and realistic characterization back to a series which had been pasteurized, homogenized, sealed, and frozen for way too long. Talking and then techno-babbling up seemingly non-sequitur solutions to problems for a total of 21 seasons got really damn old.
